About the designer:
Svend Weihrauch (1899-1962) was educated as a silversmith and chaser at gold- and silversmith Hans Christian Matthiasen in Nykoebing Falster. After finishing his apprenticeship he was employed by goldsmith Emil Oersnes in Aalborg and at Georg Jensen's silversmithy in Copenhagen. From 1928-1956 he worked for F. Hingelberg silversmithy both as a designer of hollowware, flatware and jewellery as well as being the workshop manager. He was represented at the World's Exhibition in Brussels (1935), Paris (1937), where he won a gold medal, and New York (1939) and his works can be seen in many museums and private collections worldwide.
