About the designer:
Mathias Gerhard “Tias” Eckhoff (1926 – 2016) was a Norwegian industrial designer. He worked as designer at Porsgrunds Porselænsfabrik from 1949 and became Head of Design in 1952. He won the Georg Jensen 50 years anniversary competition in for his “Cypress” design and won the Lunning Prize in 1953 and gold medals at the Triennale in Milan in 1954, 1957 and 1960. He is represented in some of the world’s leading museums such as MoMA in New York and The Victoria and Albert Museum in London.
