Kastor Hansen originally trained as a sculptor, but from around 1908 he worked as a silversmith, and is particularly known for his silverwork. His jewellery is characterized by the Danish art nouveau style and a high degree of quality, for which he already achieved considerable success in his own day. Kastor Hansen's first collected exhibition took place in 1909 at the National Exhibition in Aarhus, while he achieved his major breakthrough at the Baltic Exhibition in Malmö in 1914.
