Georg Jensen Silver BLOSSOM # 171 Sugar Spoon
Georg Jensen Silver BLOSSOM # 171 Sugar Spoon
Designed by: Georg Jensen 1866 - 1935
Georg Jensen originally created the delicate Blossom bud for his legendary teapot in 1905.
Blossom is an epitome of the silversmith's intense and personal interpretation
of the predominant style of the day. Art Nouveau, which took its theme from nature.
In 1919 he created an entire set of cutlery with the Blossom motif.
The flower's stem winds itself upwards around the handle of the cutlery,
emerging on the top as a flower bud about to open.
This is the Silversmithy's most intricate and expensive cutlery.
Imbued with the spirit of Georg Jensen, it unites art and craft. A stunning example of the deep
inspiration Georg Jensen so convincingly found in the nature.
And it demonstrates how the immense demands he posed to his craftsmanship are still
fulfilled at his silversmithy in Copenhagen today.
